2024 RAM 3500

When you want to upfit your RAM HD truck to fit your business needs better, the Vehicle System Interface Module is key. What is that exactly? We’re diving into all the details at Bernard’s Chrysler Dodge Jeep® RAM.

What’s the Vehicle System Interface Module?

The Vehicle System Interface Module (VSIM) is designed to make it easy to upfit RAM trucks and vans. It features hard-wired inputs and outputs, output signals, and input commands. In select models, it gives you access to more than 70 vehicle inputs and outputs.

What Does It Do?

The VSIM helps you seamlessly connect lights, turn signals, hazard warnings, and more. With it, you can turn on certain features or functions with hardwired or J1939 commands. The inputs, outputs, and signals only function when the vehicle is awake (except for lock and unlock inputs).

Does My Vehicle Have a VSIM?

Many new RAM models, including the RAM chassis cab models, come standard with a VSIM. It’s important to note that the VSIM must be factory-ordered and installed, either as a standalone option or as part of a package. It can’t be added to the vehicle after assembly since it’s not a dealer- or aftermarket-installable feature.

What are RAM Upfit Options?

There are several ways to upfit your RAM vehicle, including options for agriculture, construction, delivery, catering, electrical, HVAC, landscaping, plumbing, and locksmith companies. These options include customized storage, cooling units, racks, and more.
