Registering a Car Bought in Another State

When you drive home a new car for sale in Wisconsin, likely the first question you’ll have is how to register it in my state of residency. And thankfully, putting your license plate on a vehicle taken over state lines is completely done for you, or only requires a few pieces of documentation and a trip to the DMV:

1. We can do it for you! We partner with all 50 states to get you the most accurate costs and fees. Whether you are leasing, financing, or paying cash we will help so there is nothing you need to do. You will leave here with a temporary plate and your regular plates will come in the mail. There is nothing more for you to do.
2. If you are paying cash and want to handle it on your own, once the payment clears we will give you the title info to take to your local DMV. To locate one you can visit a website like DMV Near Me. Along with your bill of sale and title, bring a photo ID, proof of residency, and proof of insurance when you visit and let your DMV clerk know you purchased the car out of state with the intent of titling and registering it at your address in your state of residency. Your clerk will likely have new plates available and be able to print you a new title. Otherwise, you will keep your eye on your mailbox for those items

What Rebates and Discounts do You Get

Whether you live in Wisconsin or some other state, the process is the same.
